piano?

its not nearly as intense if it were to be played on an organ. its a really nice song tho.
the arpeggiaturas shouldve been slower and more dramatic. and since the organ part had a third staff for the pedal notes, u could done that with octave left hands maybe?
and wheres the fugue? lol

overall that was pretty cool
enjoyed it

Klace responds:

Woah, Winterwind!
I thought you were dead or something :P
You should be submitting more songs.
And I know the songs not perfect since I just started learning it.

and im not even exaggerating the score

where to begin?

Amazingly wonderful theme
1:53 was a nice break into the next section
timpani and bass playing pizzicato was a nice idea.
3:05 was a nice reprise of the piano theme
in a bit more minor way.
ending was awesome
i was expecting it to end by fading the melody
to black but instead
V-I !!! happens which was a nice touch
its sad that the file size limit made u hafta
lower the quality but w/e
its not too bad tho...
the quality i mean, not the song
cuz
the song is amazing
u guys rock.

***PPL, dont forget to check out Simon's page as well...***

once again, u guys rock
great job.
for a 7 month project, this turned out as awesome as i hoped it would

Winter

MusicalRocky responds:

Nice review dude, thanks. Yeah, working with Simon was amazing. I like 1:53 too. Originally it was just a blank measure lol, so it's nice to have that in there. I had some fun with 3:05. It sound more minor cuz it doesn't have the leading tone lol
And it even has some B naturals. Yeah, the ending is awesome too. (V-I...how predictable). Yeah, I think we'll be ok with the bitrate at 96 lol. Quantity over quality yo. Oh wait...

Yeah, people you need to check out Simon's page. He's one of the best, and vastly overlooked.

I'm glad you think we rock haha.

Yep, the 7 months were definitely worth it.

Rocky

nice

it would be a great etude piece for two instruments as well
ur progressions work very well after the other
if only ppl would start to understand actual
music for its value rather than its quality
quality just makes things fancier and duznt make
the actual song any better than it really is

great song once again
movement 3?

yeah, u better
yo buddy

Winter

MusicalRocky responds:

Lolol. Nice review. Thanks.Yeah, I was thinking about it sounding like an etude too. Yeah, I'm trying to get mvnt 3 ideas lol. I'm glad you liked it (maybe) anyways thanks.

mellow

i love that hi hat
nice and calm
something nice to listen to while making a long walk to somewhere definitely
instrumentation was not bad either
great jarb too

Winterwind-NS

MusicalRocky responds:

lol thanks dude...haha yeah, it is nice and calm. I dunno if I meant to do that

Oh snap

this is a very nice piece indeed
this started off like a piece I've heard before,
just cant remember which
i love when u get into octaves
Sounded like u played it live but not sure if u
did. great ending as well
songs nowadays dont have good endings at all
at first i thought it was a guitar haha till the
right hand came in
how long did it take to compose this piece?

Great job on a very touching piece
beautiful on every level

DavidOrr responds:

Hey buddy! I played this into Reason 3.0 using my MIDI keyboard. I considered playing it live on a piano, but mics always pick up unwanted fuzz and the quality of the recording isn't amazing unless you have some top-notch equipment.

I wrote this piece the night before I had a composition recital for my teacher. I had found out that day that I had to play an original composition in it, and so I wrote this.

Glad you enjoyed it!

hmm

about wut Arbiter said...
"why are the pauses so damn long..." cuz those chords are held by a fermata. I'm guessing u dont know the basics of music or sumthing cuz thats pretty simple stuff. It's cool man we all learn from somewhere.
Personally I didnt find it too predictable
I love how u went from ur intro to ur rondo then to ur other themes it was awesome dude.
ur ending was nice too. That final tremolo (haha) wouldve sounded better if it was sustained but i guess that's klace's fault (lol jk klace)

all in all nice jarb dude
keep it up
5/5 from me duh

WinterWind-NS

MusicalRocky responds:

Fermata lol.

I'm surprised you spelled predictable right (lol jk). Thanks, I tried to have it very varied (haha) stylistically. Yeah, I tried to be all over the place with switching between themes. Glad that worked out. I almost didn't put that tremolo in. It was just a big chord harmoniously between the two hands. But then I was like "I want a coolio tremolo" lol. Yeah, I had it sustained in Noteworthy.

Sweet, I tried to do a nice jarb.

Thanks for the 5 dude.

MusicalRocky

repetitive

mae mae mae... wut a nice song... haha

the Harp is so wonderful, sounds nice
especially wit the tamborine thing in the
background.
guitar should be brought out a little
cuz the oboes notes sound similar to the guitar
the oboe sounds nice tho

but

then u got into that baroque-ish sounding
progression. and i was thinking yeah that sounds
really nice, until you looped it more and passed
it down to the strings.
Dm - Edimin - C - Dm - Bb - C - Am - Bb
am i correct? lol cuz in my eyes, it doesnt
look like it would sound good...

anyways, i wasnt too happy with the ending.
My favorite part of the song would be from the beginning to the part wen the baroque progressions
came up

anyways, enjoyable all in all

MaestroSegments responds:

Thanks WinterWind, to be honest, i'm not too certain what you mean, you see i'm not at all seasoned in music theory, so i'll have to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Thanks for the review, i'm glad you enjoyed it ^^.

wow

wonderful song with a very suiting title
much like a lulliby indeed, but more like
a fanfare half way thru the song haha
i love the melodies u have in this song
mind sharing your story?

keep it up!

WinterWind-NS

SuperTonic64 responds:

Thanks WinterWind!

Nah, I don't mind sharing the story. :D

In my story, there is a whole population of people living unknowingly in a artifical world. (Kinda like the matrix, but not.) The story is a parody of the Legend of Zelda series, so at the end, I decided to write an ocarina solo that one of my character plays to send everyone back to their real home. :D (Complicated, I know. :P) That's why there is a fanfare in the middle of the song. :D

"Ow! My hopes of reaching Top 5!!!!"

Glad ur finally out of the midi-stage haha
Its funny how that works tho cuz.. w/e great song
dude. Love your instrumentation. I wouldnt know
how to assign a celeste in my songs.
the cellos are my favorite part of the song
it was the part of the song that gave it motion.
ending was nice too, with the celeste
awesome
Only thing i would've wanted more out of in the
song would be a better piano part lol
but thats just me :)

now finish ur freakin collab u monkey

WinterWind-NS
FIVE'D!!!

MusicalRocky responds:

Who says I'm out of that stage? lol I still don't have anything but MIDI. "Great song" Thanks. Yeah, I spent a lotta time on the instrumentation. You don't know how to assign celeste? Wait, what's a celeste? O_o

Yeah, gotta love those cellos. I loved writing those. Yeah, I like that ending.

Hm, I didn't focus much on the piano in this piece. Eh, it's all right how it is.

I'M TRYING TO FINISH. Gawsh.

Yay! Five. Thanks.

cool cool

I've never heard of the original but this was nice
and was surprisingly catchy
i loved the melody
only think i really didnt like were
the toms lol
